Preparation
Pertussis Toxin, highly purified from Bordetella pertussis culture supernatant.
Pertussis toxin is presented in Tris buffer pH 8.0, 0.5 M NaCl and 50 % glycerol.

Inactivation
Whole B. pertussis organisms are removed by sterile filtration. Absence of viable B. pertussis is confirmed by attempted growth under original culture conditions. Since no procedure can guarantee absolute sterility, the reagent should be handled with appropriate safety precautions.
