The synthetic peptide KVEKIGEGTYGVVYK can be used as a substrate for Src kinase in in vitro kinase assays. It is phosphorylated by Src with a Km of 101 μM.
Src (p60c-src) is a 60 kDa cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase with functions in the regulation of cell division, cell-matrix adhesion, and cell-cellcell adhesion. Src family tyrosine kinases participate in signal transduction of different classes of membrane receptors, including receptor tyrosine kinases and G-protein coupeled receptors.
