Acyclo-nucleoside-triphosphates (Acyclo-NTPs) substitute a 2-hydroxyethoxymethyl group for the 2′-deoxyribofuranosyl sugar normally present in dNTPs. They can therefore act as chain terminators in single basepair extension (SBE) assays similarly to ddNTPs (2',3'-dideoxynucleside-5'-triphosphates).
