JBScreen Series

JBScreen delivers a comprehensive suite of crystallization screens — from broad-coverage sparse matrices to highly specialized formulations for kinases, membrane proteins, nucleic acid complexes, and beyond. Backed by statistical insights and decades of crystallography expertise, the JBScreen Series enables scientists to streamline initial screening and confidently move toward crystal optimization and high-resolution structure determination.

  • JBScreen Basic
    Based on the classic sparse matrix crystallization screen published first by Jancarik and Kim in 1991, it contains 96 unique reagent mixtures for screening a wide range of pH and various salts and precipitants.
  • JBScreen Buffers
    Standard buffers in neutral pH range from 5.5 - 8.5 or extreme pH ranges from 3.0 - 5.5 and 8.5 - 11.0.
  • JBScreen Classic
    JBScreen Classic Kits 1-10 cover 240 of the most important conditions for protein crystallization, based on the evaluation of literature data on several thousand crystallized proteins. JBScreen Classic represents the selected, statistically most successful buffers that provided protein crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction.
  • JBScreen JCSG ++
    Optimized sparse matrix screen for initial screening of crystallization conditions developed by the Joint Center for Structural Genomics (JCSG).
  • JBScreen Kinase
    A highly specialized screen formulated for the determination of initial crystallization conditions of protein kinases.
  • JBScreen Membrane
    Optimized screen covering 96 of the most successful conditions for crystallization of membrane proteins.
  • JBScreen Nuc-Pro
    Designed to screen for crystallization conditions of nucleic acids and protein-nucleic acid complexes based on extensive screening of the PDB.
  • JBScreen PACT ++
    Screen for systematic pH-, anion- and cation-testing in the presence of polyehtylene glycol.
  • JBScreen PEG/Salt
    Efficient initial screening of PEG 3350 and PEG 5000 MME versus 48 different salts.
  • JBScreen Pentaerythritol
    A systematic crystallization screen based on pentaerythritol polymers as precipitants developed by Ulrike Demmer from the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysics in Frankfurt.
  • JBScreen Pi
    Developed at the MRC Cambridge - Crystallization Screen for soluble and integral membrane proteins based on Pi sampling strategy.
  • JBScreen Plus
    Additive screen most useful for the optimization of preliminary crystallization conditions. The additives are based on the Hofmeister series, which reflects the ability of ions to stabilize the structure of proteins.
  • JBScreen Wizard
    A highly effective random sparse matrix screen for crystallizing proteins, peptides, nucleic acids and macromolecular complexes
  • JBScreen XP
    Upgraded with the Anderson−Evans polyoxotungstate (TEW) as universal additive, the XP Screens promote protein crystallization even for most challenging targets and improve diffraction quality of protein crystals
  • FORMOscreen®
    Antibody formulation screen compatible with biophysical and biochemical read-out allowing for quick and easy analysis of important antibody parameters
