LEXSY for Membrane Transporters

Membrane transporters are difficult to produce in most expression systems. With LEXSY you can express and investigate them.

The eukaryotic expression system LEXSY has been successfully employed to express a mammalian solute carrier (a transmembrane transporter) for the first time1.

LEXSY efficiently recognized the native localization signals and integrated the transporter in the correct membranes (Fig. 1). The transporter was also active and uptake studies could be performed with life cells, showing that LEXSY is suitable for expressing and studying even the most challenging proteins.
