    A big "Thank You!"

A big "Thank you!" goes to the organizers who made the South West Structural Biology Consortium (SWSBC) Meeting 2010 such a great success!

It was a real pleasure to talk to so many participants. We had a wonderful time and many fruitful discussions!

JBS Floppy-Choppy – in situ proteolysis as rescue technique in protein crystallization

JBS Floppy-Choppy is the rescue kit for proteins which are recalcitrant to crystallize. It enables you to modify your protein by in situ proteolysis to improve its crystallization behavior.

Just add trace amounts of our Floppy-Choppy-Proteases to the protein solution immediately prior to crystallization. The experiment can be set up without evaluating the efficacy of proteolysis, without stopping the proteolysis reaction and without purification of any proteolyzed protein fragments. So it is very straightforward.

JBScreen pH-2D – sample a broad pH-range without changing the buffering environment

JBScreen pH-2D is designed to screen a broad pH-range without changing the buffering environment. This ensures pH-screening independent of the chemical nature of the components of the buffer system.

The screen contains six extended range buffer systems. Each buffer system is composed of a low-pH and a high-pH stock solution. The low-pH stock solution is preset at pH 4.0 and the high-pH solution at either pH 9.0 (or 10.0). Thus, mixing the low-pH and high-pH stock solutions in different proportions you can screen the entire pH range from 4.0 - 9.0 (or 10.0).

CrystalHarp™ Plate – growth, optimization and in situ X-ray diffraction in one plate!

The CrystalHarp™ SBS format plate contains 48 capillaries allowing broad screening of variables based on capillary diffusion. It allows crystal screening and optimization as well as the addition of additives and cryoprotectants.

Once you have obtained crystals, individual capillaries can be easily mounted to standard magnetic bases, enabling in situ diffraction analysis.
