What is Nourseothricin?
  • Streptothricin antibiotic for a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria and other unicellular or complex organisms

  • Preferred selection antibiotic for genetically modified
    • Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
    • yeast and filamentous fungi
    • protozoa, plants... and many more

Advantages:
  • Very broad spectrum of activity; for a list of sensitive hosts, please refer the table below or to the Nourseothricin data sheet
  • Low or no background: Resistance protein is localized intracellularly and cannot be degraded in the cell culture medium
  • Not used in human or veterinary medicine; therefore, no conflict with regulatory requirements
  • No cross-reactivity with other aminoglycosid antibiotics such as Hygromycin or Geneticin
  • No cross-resistance with therapeutic antibiotics
  • Long-term stable as powder or solution
  • Highly soluble in water (1 g/L)

Nourseothricin is marketed by Jena Bioscience as "LEXSY NTC"
(it is also known as NTC or clonNAT)

Please see the NTC section of our website for details!

For structure formula, mechanism of action, list of sensitive organisms and literature please see our Nourseothricin overview.
