Streptavidin-Biotin Binding Assays

Streptavidin – biotin binding assays are commonly used in biology labs. The affinity of biotin for avidin and streptavidin is very high and these bond formations are the srongest known biological interactions with dissociation constants in the range of 10^-15 M.
A biotinylated probe is typically detected by avidin or streptavidin bound to a reporter molecule.
