Bürk studied Physics at the Chemnitz University of Technology, at the University of Regensburg and at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
During his PhD he focused on biophysical applications of fluorescence imaging ranging from cells to single molecules. He continued his research career at the Fraunhofer Institute in Jena working on optical detection of biomolecules.
Bürk joined Jena Bioscience in 2004 starting with the setup of our PCR section and was promoted Head of Proteins/PCR in 2006.
