We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a distribution agreement with Omscientia, Inc. (Carlsbad, CA, USA) to offer our entire suite of protein crystallization products. Omscientia will be offering Jena Bioscience’s products which include nucleotides and their non-natural analogs, recombinant proteins & protein production systems, and reagents for the crystallization of biological macromolecules. For the crystallization of biological macromolecules - which is the bottle neck in determining the 3D-structure of any protein – Jena and Omscientia now offer specialized reagents for crystal screening, crystal optimization and phasing that can reduce the time for obtaining high quality crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction from several years to a few days. The Jena Bioscience products are immediately available directly from Omscientia. Jena Bioscience and Omscientia are both excited about the new agreement and believe it will help bring a wider array of choices to crystallographers in North America.

DGK 2009 Poster Price Winners

Filed under: Information from Jena Bioscience, Where to meet us — Thomas Billert at 5:12 pm on Friday, March 13, 2009

Jena Bioscience again sponsored the prices for the three best posters in the category “biological structures”at this year’s DGK annual meeting (DGK = Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kristallographie, German Crystallographic Association) in Hannover. This has become sort of a tradition - we sponsored the price for the third time this year. Although we were not exhibiting at this meeting, Thomas went up to Hannover to attend the conference banquet and to hand over the prices to the lucky winners.

With this sponsorship, Jena Bioscience aims to support young creative scientists from the crystallography community. And no, we were not part of the jury that chose the best posters :-)

Congratulations again to the three of you!

Filed under: Information from Jena Bioscience, Where to meet us — Sibylle Bauer at 5:42 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2008

India is a growing economy and a growing player in the field of crystallography with around 40 groups now. The 2008 EMBO World Lecture Course on “RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN MACROMOLECULAR CRYSTALLOGRAPHY” took place in Pune from November 9th to 14th. The lecturers, both from
India and elsewhere, included internationally renowned scientists such as
Ted Baker, Eleanor Dodson, Zbyszek Dauter, Gerard Kleywegt, S. Mande.,
T.P. Singh, Joel Sussman, M. Vijayan and B-C. Wang.
Our very special thanks go to Biotech Desk, our distributor in India. Biotech Desk represented us at the lecture and Shradha -who is the managing director-awarded the poster prizes that were sponsored by Jena Bioscience.
